A brief explanation from Brother W concerning
this new College site.
Originally ICES started out in
1985 as the International College of Martinist Studies from an idea and a
reform in the practical application of FREEDOM... compiling and combining the teachings of esoteric
organizations into monographs or "Libers" as they are called. The
College was tasked with providing a resource for the teachings of ageless
wisdom for the sincere seeker regardless of lineages, connections, or closeness
to a Lodge...this they did very well especially considering the flaws of
providing hard copy "Libers" to everyone and we won't even go into
the problems with the postal system!
So well in fact, that it grew to include so much additional materials that it forced a name change to reflect the additional content, and so it became known as the International College of Esoteric Studies...
Then after the turn of the new millennia, things began to
deteriorate; not getting the mailings out on time or at all, lack of responses
to any form of communications even from the so called USA Representative, and
various other administrative issues...until finally their website was shut
down.
When the website was shut down
intentionally, or for lack of attention to it; this concerned a lot of long and
short term students within the esoteric community, as some hadn't even received
Libers that were already paid for...
So in the spring 2005 a small group of
dedicated esotericists from the Study and Research Institue of Martinism got together and we formed the yahoo group "ICES Research Group" dedicated to Research and Preservation in the
"SPIRIT" of the College and of the in-depth teachings contained within
the "LIBERS" .
Our first point of business was
to modernize and archive... the most efficient way of accomplishing that was to
"digitize" the Libers by scanning them. The first 22 were already
done. I scanned from Liber 23 to 84 page by page (no auto feed) and another Brother
completed the task.
The above Libers have been and are currently
being used by several Martinists and Lodges that I know of, as supplementary
degree lectures... I too have been using them as supplementary lectures for
Martinist students at the Study and Research Institute of Martinism and Freedom
Commandery students of the GRAIL...and of course"the ORDER of
the GRAIL has continuously operated since it's beginning and still provides
a fraternal component for those students who delight in ceremonial. Its rituals
and Initiations are beautiful and powerful.
Further research and dedication resulted in me recently
re-obtaining the original domain name that was used by the College...(www.ices-college.org) from a foreign company and depositing its use unto the trust of FREEDOM COMANDERY of the ORDER OF
THE GRAIL officially on the Fall
Equinox 2008!
The Libers will now be once
again available and the College web-site is being set-up and will be
transformed into a LIVING ENTITY. By Living Entity what we mean is that its
purpose is to conduct ON-GOING research evolving into fresh new ways to up-date
and include new researches and studies into the different esoteric traditions
and subjects which we hold so dear to our hearts...and the appropriate way to
include current researches into the an on-going project of an evolutionary
nature...thus always up to date.
New up-dates will also be added
as completed,,, we will discuss (in the appropriate
Degree FORUMS at the
Freedom Commandery Courses site
(www.freedomcommandery.us), new documents as they become available for the group.
It should be further
noted that the builder of this site is not currently in communication with any
of the representatives of the original founders but I surely welcome it...we are in the
same LIGHT and I am only trying to pick up the torch that was dropped and carry
on in that same SPIRIT that was intended!
Our sincere desire is only to
preserve an important esoteric legacy and no disrespect has been meant nor
implied to anyone or Organization!
